Rachel’s doctor successfully operated on her twin boys in utero, separating the originally conjoined fetuses.

Matisse was born with a condition that prevented her from eating solid food until she had an intestinal transplant at UPMC. Her family moved to Pittsburgh from New Zealand to work with the doctors at the Children’s Hospital there.

I photographed her along with her doctors at the Children’s Hospital, and also at home with her mother, showing her interests in music and cooking.

Mr. and Mrs Taylor were both treated for cancer at UPMC. They are well-loved in their community and have a large extended family through being foster parents for many years.

Dr. McVerry is a doctor at UPMC who’s life was saved by another doctor at the hospital. He was rushed there as the result of an accident that happened while chopping wood in his backyard.
