My family photography sessions are relaxed, artful experiences, taking place in the comfort of your home, outdoors, or a combination of both.
Rather than relying on stiff poses and forced smiles, I look for the beautiful, fleeting moments that reveal who you really are.

Families typically invest somewhere between $950 - $2000 for custom wall art and / or designed photo books. It’s important that your photos get printed and enjoyed!
The $350 session fee includes a pre-shoot consultation and a video walkthrough of your home, so that I can get a sense of the light around that time of day, and also so I can start to envision your photoshoot. I will travel to you and spend a couple of hours making photos.
The way I work is often not purely documentary style - I might ask you to do something that helps create a moment, or I might have you move closer to a window. But I’m not the photographer who lines you up in front of the fireplace and makes sure everyone smiles at the same time.
The session fee alone does not include digital files or prints.
FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I have to have kids (or young kids) to do this photoshoot? How about just me and my spouse, teen / adult kids, dogs, birds, etc.?
You don’t have to have young kids (or any kids) to take advantage of this family photoshoot offer. I can also just photograph your kids if you prefer. Come as you are!
What should we wear?
I recommend wearing solid colors instead of prints. Colors like ‘jewel tones’ work well, but you can wear whatever feels good. It’s great if you can be somewhat wrinkle-free.
What if my kid doesn’t cooperate?
Most people are worried about this and I totally understand - it helps that I’m a mom of a highly-sensitive child who has special needs, and so I have a ton of patience and creative ideas. I often just hang out a bit for the first few minutes without taking any photos. I always make sure I get great photos for every client I work with, no matter what the situation. It’s a superpower.

Hello! I’m Carey,
I’m an award-winning fine art and commercial photographer with over 20 years experience. I’m also a mom of an 8 year old boy, and we recently moved from Brooklyn, NYC to Montclair, NJ with my husband and our dog.
I also offer portraits and custom photo libraries for businesses, helping them share their messages authentically.
And I’m the creator of the L.E.N.S. Method®, creative photography workshops and courses helping both adults and teens learn how to use their own creative photography as a tool for calmness, connection and personal growth. When I was 12 years old, I declared I would either be a photographer or a therapist of some sort. I created LENS through my own journey healing my mental health, and boosting my self-image, with the help of my favorite creative medium, photography.
When I’m not working, most of my time is spent with my son, and of course he’s my favorite muse to photograph.
