My ability to connect with the people I’m photographing, and the emotional quality of my imagery is what my clients’ value most in working with me. I'm especially interested in collaborating on projects related to positive social change.
My style of photography is applicable for industries including healthcare and wellness, education, non profits, business and lifestyle branding. I'm available to create image libraries, social media content, portraits and campaigns for advertising, editorial and small business clients.
My focus is to consistently produce imagery that feels both polished and spontaneous. When it comes to the job, I’m very comfortable working with a small crew or leading a more complex production. Knowing every shoot is unique, I have an extensive network of talented team members to pull from.
My work has been awarded and featured in publications including Photo District News Annual (2017 and 2011), 'Flash Forward - Emerging Photographers' by The Magenta Foundation, Lenscratch, Verve Photo, PDN Photo of the day, Dazed and Confused magazine, Resource magazine, Humble Arts Foundation, Edge Of Humanity Magazine, Pro Photo Daily and Refinery29.
I’ve been exhibited and recognized by galleries and institutions both nationally and internationally, including the Jenkins Johnson Gallery, the Santa Fe Center for Photography, the International Photography Awards, the Noorderlicht International Photography Festival, and Critical Mass.
My first camera was a gray and pink Le Click 110 mm, which I used to photograph my stuffed animals and my dog, usually after dressing them up in sunglasses and scarves. I live in Brooklyn, NY with my husband Pete, son Gavin, and our dog Ollie.

Carey’s thoughtful consideration of her clients needs is always at the forefront of her process. She can put the shyest and most challenging subjects at ease. Carey is an excellent collaborator. Our design teams are always pleased to hear she will be joining us on a project. She understands the growing significance of honest, quality, images in the digital and print space, and delivers more than what is expected of her every time." - Barri Roberson - Director of Strategic and Digital Marketing Teachers College, Columbia University
